The staff was amazing, they were always trying to go a bit of an extra mile to satisfy the eventual needs we had, super friendly and helpful. Dinner was also super good with friendly prices and huge portions. The pool hours are also super nice covering a good part of the day.
The kid's room and arcade games at the reception were also very convenient.

We had an incredible stay here. We came for two nights initially and ended up staying 9! The views are wonderful, the rooms are cozy and quaint, the staff is so nice and helpful, breakfast was fabulous as well as the restaurant. It is quiet but not too far from town. Having a car is nice while staying here since it’s up a steep hill from town. Would stay here again next time in Chamonix.

I am slightly disabled in that my mobility is restricted by arthritis. Chamonix is a beautiful town in itself but it can be difficult to get around at night.I wanted to check out the live music scene but had real difficulty with transport.Although it is free,or cheap all day it is nearly impossible to get a taxi (unless I have been calling the wrong numbers!).I was told by some locals that they are tied up doing airport runs, how true this is I don't know. I think if you have similar problems then book a long time ahead or online.Otherwise the place is brilliant you have breathtaking views of the high mountains above, alpine meadows and a town that wants for nothing. It is easy to visit Les houches Argentiere and all the beautiful ski areas, even if you can't ski there are mountain railways and cable cars. Expensive but well with it. It is becoming my second home now.

A many time visitor, easy to get about on buses or train and some of the best off-piste there is anywhere. Looking forward to the re-opening of the top cable car so the biggest / best runs will be accessible once again. CMD make sure you don't go down the road Vial and Alterra have taken (selling season passes and driving up day tickets to drive sales of these products and thus maxing out their profits) - On vous voyons!!

Skiing in Chamonix is extreemly snow dependant.
Skiing in Chamonix is extreemly snow dependant. Should you be lucky enough to have several days of powder, each of the individual resourts are more than large enough with loads of off-piste opportunites to ski.
However, as this is a season with limitid snow conditions, each individual resourt becomes too small, with too many people on the piste, as there is too litle snow in the terrain. As such, I would much rather recommend the surronding resorts such as Courmayeur or Verbier for a weeks stay, as you then get away from the dayly transport with busses etc.
The need to tranfere between the different resorts to ski by buss is also a negative aspect, as it is pure madness with everyone trying to get on the first bus that comes. I would definitely not recommend Chamonix for families based on this, as younger children would strugle with the stampede....
As a town Chamonix has a lot to offer, with good shops and resturants, but as a ski destination, I will probably not return, but head off to larger interconnected resorts.

The Chamonix valley provides some of the most amazing alpine scenery anywhere. The mountains are stunning and the opportunities for ski and snowboard adventures in winter are endless. That said, this is not the best choice for beginners or early intermediate skiers or boarders. The majority of the terrain is challenging. Also, be prepared to take the free ski bus up and down the valley to experience all that Chamonix has to offer. The main town has an abundance of great restaurants, bars and shops, but consider staying in one of the quieter villages along the valley if you want to avoid the crowds in peak season.

It’s a really impressive town but lacks the charm of an alpine resort such as Avoriaz or Morzine. Logistics are incredibly troublesome getting to a from slopes. We had to really on bus service which is unreliable, overcrowded and insufficient.
It’s definitely not somewhere to take young kids. It really has an adult feel about the place

it is heaven on earth.
it is heaven on earth. I am so at peace when there. 3 months last year. one month this year 2 months next year. you don't go back if it was poor. I ski but if you don't ski there is still plenty to do. I have so much more to explore. the views are unreal. food is more expensive, but I live on a very tight budget and for me it's the same as home. the bus services are great, you can spend a week just exploring on them and are usually free.
I liked the chocolate croissants. My biggest challenge was only eating one!! There were other items I failed to try because the croissants with chocolate were so superior I just ate them every day.
Also, this hotel has a lot of history. I enjoyed hearing the story of the hotel and reading the pamphlet. I also liked getting to know the history of the hotel from the current owner. This hotel has been in his family a long time. I like that there is a long term story of culture associated with this hotel!
Free valley transport card provided on check-in- can use to travel free on trains and buses during your stay (bus stops pretty much outside). Staff were really helpful. Could walk to here from Chamonix Sud bus station. Quiet 4 bed mixed dorm. Had limited/basic kitchen facilities (I just used the fridge). Good value location, think it is cheaper to book direct. Seemed safe. First impression was that it is a bit rustic but I actually had a good stay.
located in the very centre of Chamonix, the hotel is convenient, comfortable and welcoming. My room is quite spacious as a single room; well-equipped as well. It is a very nice surprise to have window-view of Mont Blanc. The staff there are all very friendly and helpful, welcoming me to leave luggages, giving useful suggestions. Besides, the hotel provides free beverages.
Hotel was in a great location as we expected. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is at best you have so much choice. Town is just a 2minute walk and Auguille de midi cable car is about 5min walk. Everything was perfect from room to food to location. Definitely if we visit again we will go for this hotel without doubt. 5 star for us.
Thank you.
Lovely hotel with an excellent gin bar and beautiful views from the garden/terrace area. We were in a cheaper room so didn't have a lot of room, but it was tastefully decorated and had great storage options - the cupboards/wardrobes are very cleverly designed. Awesome downstairs decor and shared space for meeting people or chilling out / working.
The location of Les Gourmets was fantastic. Beautiful views from our balcony and just a short stroll to all the restaurants and shops in the heart of Chamonix.
The room was spacious and very comfortable.
The hotel staff were extremely helpful and very friendly.
The ski locker with boot heaters was very well equipped.
Hotel was great. The service was very helpful and polite. It was quite. There is a big parking. Although it was further away from Chamonix you can get there fairly fast with a car. The breakfast was also good. It was very good value for money. I recommend it.
It has everything you need as a solo traveler. I really liked breakfast and the personal staff are always charming with you. Plus they could provide you a cable car card with a cheap fare for a round trip.
The hotel located really near to gare sncf and gare montenvers. 10-15 minutes walk to the city centre. The room that we stay was great for value with mont blanc view. The staff are great.
Cosy hotel in a quiet village very close to Chamonix. Charming Russian owner and friendly and polite staff. Good value for money in usually not so cheap Chamonix. Full recommendation
Very nice hotel. Staff is very welcoming. Rooms are small (that is just the standard in Europe) but very clean and nicely decorated. I would definitely return there.
