Great history especially if one is a Shakespeare aficionado.
Great history especially if one is a Shakespeare aficionado. I was drawn more to the architecture and history as well as the walks along the canal. Also, theater is great, of course. We were unable to see a Shakespeare play, but instead saw "English" at the Royal Shakespeare Company's newest venue "The Other Place", a facility established by the RSC after a top staffer shook things up a bit in 2016 and suggested being more relevant

Stratford-upon-Avon is a beautiful town.
Stratford-upon-Avon is a beautiful town. There are lots of green spaces offering respite from the lovely shopping areas. Eating out is a treat. We're vegan and had lots of choice. The Plantarium cafe is a must visit. Lots of reference to the history of Stratford and its connection to Shakespeare add to the charm. We only went for a short break but it's somewhere we'd definitely go back to.

I cannot but express my concern that in the light of the fire, Booking .com did not carefully that potential guests had been informed and that the use of technology to look after potential guests interests was most inappropriate.

Lovely place to spend a weekend, the river and canal basin area are very pretty, loads of really good restaurants, places to stay and things to do. Stratford upon Avon is great for a short trip and easy to get to from London or anywhere from the Midlands. Particularly nice in spring. There are options for boat hires along the river, or go on a boating trip with someone else steering. Lots of little shops to explore. The big draw is the RSC. So nice to take in a play there with a pre-theatre dinner and explore the town.

They made us feel at home from the minute we arrived and although we had a climb to the 3rd floor, the room was airy, filled with windows, and warm sunlight beating into the room. They had a nice and small kitchen centre in the floor below, that was a pleasant nook to break for a snack or takeout! Breakfast was delicious as well. The room was very comfortable and the bed was amazing, very snug. The bathroom was spacious and exceptionally clean. Breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day. We were not rushed like some hotels we could take as long as we liked. The restaurant looked inviting but we chose not to eat there.
