Absolute nightmare. When we arrived, they didn’t have our booking. You need to climb up the stairs to the 2nd floor to “check in” and no one is helping. Staff barely speaks any English and they are the most unhelpful people I’ve met working in hospitality. There’s an entire construction site next to the property- be prepared for all day noise and dust. There was a drunk person trying to enter our room at 3am - informed the property manager and I’m yet to get a response a week later. Oh, and the WiFi doesn’t work and also there’s no reception whatsoever. AVOID!!!!!

If you enjoy more of a tourist and party atmosphere this is probably the place for you
I personally prefer the more relaxed atmosphere where the staff are not so ‘on top’ of you
I booked 2 suits unfortunately one was on top of the bar and kitchen so it was quite noisy until midnight
The second suit was bottom floor access to the beach but the beach beds were full of clothes just dumped there
When I mentioned it I was told that it was ok
Not really very good for 2 suits for 500€ a day
Needless to say the next day we changed hotels to a more relaxed one more to my liking
Not to say that the hotel was bad just not for me

Paje is more chill and relaxing than in the north.
Paje is more chill and relaxing than in the north. Best place for kite surfing. The tide can influence the possibility of swimming therefore if you want beach/sun/swimming you better choose north, Kendwa.

Pajde is a small village, BUT you can find everything there.
Pajde is a small village, BUT you can find everything there. ATM, bars, beach kitesurf mostly. If you want to party all night then it might not be your place. If you love watersports and laid-back people then you are in the right spot. Visited Nungwi, but preferred Paje.

On our first day in Paje, the winds were quite strong,...
On our first day in Paje, the winds were quite strong, making it less suitable for leisure. Most of the local activities centered around kite surfing. So, if you're hoping for calm beachside strolls, Nungwi in the north is a better choice. Additionally, the tidal patterns here differ from what we're used to in the Northern Hemisphere. The tide comes in during the day and recedes in the evening. We once found ourselves stranded on the beach due to the swift rise in tide. It's something to be mindful of if visiting.
the best thing is, without a doubt, the lovely sisters who run the place, not because the rest is bad, but because they are wonderful!! form the moment you step a foot into their hotel, Vanessa and Cristina offer you the nicest, most sincere smile you’ll see in the island. they are nice, fun, helpful and honest. Zanzibar is a paradise island, but it’s these two girls who will be forever part of your heart once you’re back home…
Mahali Hotel in Zanzibar provided an extraordinary experience in every aspect that mattered. The service was the epitome of hospitality - attentive, warm, and personalized. The venue itself was stunning, offering breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere that made every moment tranquil and memorable. The facilities were top-notch, offering a perfect blend of luxury and comfort, making it an ideal retreat for relaxation.
Perfect stay in Mem Luxury Hotel, our best hotel in Zanzibar so far !
The room is nice, large and clean with hot shower and the wifi is working !
The staff is just amazing, really nice people always here to help and to assist you !
The swimming pool is wide and long
The restaurant is also totally tasty, they know how to cook fishes perfectly and the breakfast is also big and good !
We recommend this hotel 👍
This is the most fantastic hotel of Paje!!! Its look is so exotic and luxury, the room is very beautiful, clean and big, the terrace were big, the ocean view was amazing. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The Paje beach is the most beauiful beach in Zanzibar. The hotel had a private sun terrace. It has a big pool, which was always clean and has a special lighting, glass-walled pool.
The room was spacious and super clean. The view from the balcony is amazing.
I think this is the best location is Paje, everything is in close walking distance, for eg. restaurants, rooftop bar, party places, but far enough to be quite at night.
The hotel has it's own private beach area which is quite useful if you do not wish to interact with the local salesmen (aka. fake massais)
Perfect location, 2 minutes to the beach. Anna and the staff take care deeply for the cleaning of the rooms and hotel. After being at different hotels in Zanzibar-Page (breakfast included) this one had the the best breakfast regarding quantity and quality. Hot water, water pressure and AC are working perfectly. Chill main area around the pool. I would come back.
By Zanzibar standard this hotel is as good as you will ever find, lovely pool and right on the beach so location is great, lots of tourist shops just outside the hotel and not really hassled by hawkers on the beach, we had the room above the bar which included a furnished balcony with a loft above which was great for relaxing
I have been living in Tanzania for over 6 years, and I come to Zanzibar a few times a year. My favorite place in the whole island, especially in Paje, is Drifters. Super fun vibes, great beach, great food, close to everything, and best place to be! If you're traveling alone or with friends, I highly recommend Drifters!
Location was perfect for me as it is quite close to the beach also next to the 7/24 supermarket which is not so usual in zanzibar. Everyday rooms are being cleaned. Ventilation and hot water works perfectly which is also not so usual in zanzibar. I had to chance with a lot of people! I will def come and stay next time
Very nice hotel in a good proximity to the beach and centre and with the best breakfast ever I have eaten while in Zanzibar! The owner Marieke and her staff are really nice and helpful too. if I go back again to Paje I prefer to stay again. as a bonus we got to see red monkeys everyday on the trees next to the hotel.
the hotel is right on the beach, with a big infinity pool towards the ocean. at high tide you can enjoy a waves crushing next to the pool, while at low tide you can walk (15-20 min) to the very end of Paje beach, next to a lot of cozy restaurants and terraces. the staff, the rooms, the location are just amazing.
Hotel is situated on the beach, location is perfect. Bungalows are also very good. They have AC and very fast and good internet. We were also enjoying in the swimming pool. Breakfast is very good and all the staff is very friendly and helpfull. If we will come back to Zanzibar, we will return to this hotel.
The place is absolutely amazing, right on the beautiful beach,in the center of Paje, next to the supermarket, the bazaar and nice local restaurants. the hotel has a really nice bar, a delicious restaurant and a big, clean pool. breakfast is ok, shower always had hot water, wifi was good.
I liked the cleanliness of the place, the attention to detail, the great care for cleanliness and security, as well as the staff and hosts were helpful and kind to the utmost. Also, breakfast was one of the most delicious meals I ate in Zanzibar. i will be back next year
The place is just amazing. A big awesome and clean pool is a big advantage. The staff is very kind. Super clean. Close to the beach. Close to shops and restaurants in the village. The best accommodation in Zanzibar. Nice for families with kids.
This was the best place at stayed at during my time in Zanzibar, around this budget. The rooms are new, very nicely decorated, with a small working space. Owners and staff are super friendly and helpful, the place is right next to the beach.
What can I say: this stay is unforgettable and I will definitely be back! Zanzibar has a special place in my heart. Special thanks to the owner Joseph who cares about the place and its guests!
The situation is not far from the center of Paje, the pool very beautifull, the hotel is well secured. The manager and hi staff do the best to give to their guess a top expérience of Zanzibar
Amazing hotel, wonderful staff, beautiful beach, delicious food.
I loved this place very much and if I'll ever be back in Zanzibar - it'd be my stay for a 100%
