We loved that it was run by a family. The breakfast was very nice and the hotel had a beautiful view of the town below.

I like everything there, comfortable room, free water at any time, free tee, fresh mint with tee, herbal guarden, food, kindness of staff, everything. Will be back again. :)

Staff welcome guests with genuine warmth, The check-in process is swift and hassle-free. The hospitality and service provided by Hotel Appenzell exceeded our expectations. We had to observe a fast, and the staff went out of their way to arrange everything for us at night.

The room is quite modern and super comfortable. Breakfeast quite complete and with plenty of local food. Gonten is a tiny and charming small town, nice landscapes around.

Very nice Swiss Gasthasu. Well maintained and clean. We had the large upstairs family room to sleep four. Cold at night, with large comforters. Views of the town and Swiss countryside are amazing. Cows and Cow Bell sounds are everywhere. Food in restaurant was very good.

I'm not one to praise something that doesn't deserve it however this property is absolutely a 10 out of 10. The Hotel was beautiful and spotlessly clean. The property looks new as it is meticulously cared for and the room size was generous as was the bathroom. Out of all the Hotels we stayed in over 3 weeks, this was by far the best. It's not a typical Hotel, it has the beautiful Swiss feel of years gone by, a Gasthaus. The food in the restaurant was also 10 out of 10. The views of the countryside were absolutely stunning and just a minute of so up the road was the Ebenalp cable car up to Berggasthaus Aescher. The owners of the property were lovely, warm and friendly as too were the staff.
